Philip Orr Synaptec Ltd Synaptec is a young UK-based company specialising in innovative photonic instrumentation systems for power and energy applications, including protection and metering schemes and condition monitoring solutions, based upon its unique platform technology. Synaptec's sensors utilise optical fibre to passively measure voltage and current in accordance with IEC standards - at up to 50 points over 100 km per single system. Our products are fundamentally new to the power markets but have already experienced early adoption globally. We have worked closely with NPL in the UK to develop and characterise our technologies, and are keen to continue to collaborate to metrological work in the EU with a focus on power system instrumentation, protection, control and monitoring.
