|2019-07-02.||Andrea Mario Rossi||INRiM||INRIM is the Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica, acting as a NMI for Italy. It disseminates metrological traceability to industry through calibrations for a wide range of quantities for various food-related disciplines, such as amount–of–substance (chemistry), mass and temperature. In particular, the food metrology group of INRIM contributes in the certification of various reference materials by determining trace element mass fraction by means of Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA). The group has the specific and exclusive competence in the field of characterization and metrological quantification of various analytes and matrices by mid and near infrared spectroscopy (MIR, NIR) and Raman spectroscopy (RS), fluorescence measurements, and INAA.|
|2019-06-12.||Jan Mast||Sciensano||Sciensano develops, validates and implements advanced methodologies for the characterization of nanoparticles in a regulatory context, focusing on the definition of nanomaterials (NM), the physicochemical characterization for risk assessment and the analysis of nanoparticles in complex (food) matrices. Sciensano can offer services based on TEM methodologies (TEM, HAADF-STEM, EDX, HRTEM, SAED), complemented with sample preparation and screening methods including Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), zeta potential, particle tracking analysis and (SP-) ICP-MS.
Sciensano hosts the Belgian reference laboratory for the analysis of NM in food, is a validated supplier for EC-JRC (Geel) for (reference) NM characterization, and participates to CEN and ISO standardization initiatives. It contributes to EFSA and EC expert working groups on nanomaterial characterization. Sciensano is involved in (inter)national research projects such as IMEKOFOODS; to improve the metrology of the characterization of NM
